The STATE STREET WALK AUDIT is intended to identify and discuss pedestrian and bicycle safety concerns on State Street in an effort to inform potential pop-up traffic calming projects.
Bike Walk Bitterroot and the City of Hamilton are partnering with Montana State University’s Western Transportation Institute on pop up traffic calming in Hamilton. Popup traffic calming projects are low cost, quick build installations intended to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Through several of the City’s and Bike Walk Bitterroot’s planning, efforts State Street has been identified as a location with safety concerns for pedestrians and cyclists, particularly for people access the middle school and downtown.
